At the moment the only topic everybody is talking about is Corona. But I want to push away the negative vibes and let you dream a bit. It is better to do a “to-travel bucket list” for after this time than to complain about the virus and just get a negative mood. This is why I want to share a few travel spots and my experiences and recommendations with you!
No.13: Maribor
Activities/sightseeing spots:
Skiing region Mariborsko Pohorje
A while outside of Maribor you can find the skiing region of Maribor, which is the biggest one in Slovenia. Here you can snowboard and ski on 41,5km of slopes.
Castle of Maribor+ cathedral
You can find a castle and cathedral in Maribor, which you can visit. You just have five minutes’ walk between them. In Maribor`s castle there is also a museum to find.
Wine tradition in Maribor
The eastern part of Slovenia is famous for their winegrowing. As well as Maribor. In Maribor you can visit the water tower and take a look at the wine shop, the pyramid (a small hill outside of Maribor, where you have a great view over the city and you are close to the wine grapes) or the wine cellar “Oozss Vinag vinarstvo sadjarstvo Maribor”.
Papagayo bar
When I visited Maribor I was told to visit Papagayo bar for a snack in the afternoon and I can just highly recommend it! If you love chocolate you will definitely find something to eat, they have choco burgers, choco kebabs, crepes etc.
My personal opinion/ summary:
In my opinion Maribor is definitely a cute city that you should visit. The sightseeing spots mentioned above are the most famous ones, but for sure you can also find different ones. Maribor is nice for a day trip, but spending more days or even weeks here could be a bit boring.
