TAt the moment the only topic everybody is talking about is Corona. But I want to push away the negative vibes and let you dream a bit. It is better to do a “to-travel bucket list” for after this time than to complain about the virus and just get a negative mood. This is why I want to share a few travel spots and my experiences and recommendations with you!
No.3: Berlin
Activities/sightseeing spots:
„Underworld of Berlin“:
The organization „Underworld Berlin“offers different guided tours through underground worlds. You can see and learn for example about bunkers from the Second World War or tunnels from times of the German division. I really liked the guided tours because you kind of feel the atmosphere and emotions of the places by walking through them. It is a big difference for example compared to museums.
Museum of spying:
In the museum of spying you learn about the history of spying. How did this work in ancient or middle age times? You also get to know a lot about the modern spying methods. A nice aspect is that the museum is interactive. For example you can do tests, like entering your phone pin code and getting to know how long hackers would need to log in into your phone etc. …
Berlin wall:
You can see real leftovers of the Berlin wall to have a better idea about how huge, massive and dangerous the wall was. I am more a fan of “real life experiences”, than museums.
Castles:
In Berlin you can find the castles Sanssouci and Charlottenburg. I visited none of them but I walked through Sanssouci`s garden, which was really beautiful and relaxing!
Museum of DDR:
The German division is a huge and interesting topic. In the museum of DDR you can learn a lot about it and especially about the formerly east part of Germany, the DDR.
Television Tower of Berlin:
You can get up the 368m high television tower of Berlin and enjoy the view. At top of the tower there is also a restaurant for a little break.
Brandenburgs gate:
For sure this is the most popular spot for a picture in Berlin! It is the most known symbol of Berlin.
“Reichstag”:
In the “Reichstag” the Germany government takes its decisions. You can visit the top and terrace of the building or even book guided tours or visit an exhibition in it.
District “Kreuzberg” and checkpoint Charlie:
“Kreuzberg” is a district in Berlin, were mainly young people life. The district has its own special spirit. In Kreuzberg you can visit “Checkpoint Charlie”, which is a old border crossing point in times of German division.
Potsdamer place:
The “Potsdamer place” is often described as the heart of Berlin. Here you can go out for a drink or something to eat or go shopping. Besides this you can visit the Lego center and the sony center.
Tempelhofers field:
The tempelhofers field is the hugest green area in Berlin. You can ride a bicycle or go for a walk here. In old times at this place there was an airport.
My personal summary/opinion:
I was really surprised about Berlin, but in a good way, because I haven`t imagined that you have sooo much to see and do in this city! The things that I recommended here in my travel blog are just a few examples about what to do in Berlin. I will guarantee you, one time visiting Berlin is definitely too less time! You will need a second or even third visit to see everything! J Berlin is for sure a travel destination that everybody can enjoy, because the selection of activities is huge.
